SPRING NEWSLETTER 2018

TERM 3, 2018

This term and next are full of performance opportunities including our student end of year concerts.  Here’s an offering from one of my favourite poets which you may like to share with your young musician as they prepare for their performances this term –

when creating. be kind to your doubt.
hear it out. thank it for its concern.
and reassure it that you are an artist.
and risk is essential.
— Nayirrah Waheed

Holiday Programmes & Upcoming Events

Holiday Rock & Pop School | 4-5 October

Start your journey to stardom these school holidays…
You’ll write original songs, rehearse & perform your music and have loads of fun playing in a band with other musicians your age!
Our Rock & Pop School will take place these holidays on 4 and 5 October.  For two days of songwriting and performance with like-minded musicians, it's not too late to ENROL NOW.
Co-ordinated by our band teachers, day two is a real highlight and takes place at MAINZ (Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand) Auckland Studios.

Holiday Guitar Gig | 8-9 October

Join our guitar gurus to perform, write songs, have a go on a range of guitars and FX pedals, explore jazz, rock, pop, play with other guitarists your own age and with our tutors as band-members!  Your Guitar Gig will culminate in a performance for friends and family on day two.

Denny Chou who joined Lewis Eady in 2010 teaches piano at Balmoral School, Royal Oak and Ponsonby Primary Schools.  Denny has been teaching piano for more than 10 years and alongside Dom Blaazer, she heads our team of piano teachers offering sound guidance and advice as needed.  In 2008 (just a little before she joined our team) Denny was the Symphonic Band Leader at Tauranga Girls’ College. She moved to Auckland in 2009 and achieved her Bachelor of Music majoring in Piano Performance (Honours) in 2012.  Denny also holds ATCL with distinction in piano and grade 7 in flute.  She has successfully presented many students for both ABRSM and Trinity music examinations (initial through to Grade 8) with 100% pass rate.  When not teaching, Denny enjoys the odd french pastry and a good coffee!

STUDENT REPORTS & CONCERTS

Each of our students completes a self-assessment again this term. These enable our students to identify themselves (with guidance from their tutor) what they are achieving in their weekly music class. Keep an eye out for yours!

In term 4, you will be provided with a full progress report (prepared by our tutors) and you will be invited to an end of year student concert either this term or next. Please expect your concert invitation via text message from our Music School admin team.
