LESSONS AT SCHOOL offer tuition for all stages of musical development - beginner to advanced. 30 minute lessons take place during the school day and after school at our partner schools.  Our group beginner programme - Musical Jam is a great way for your child to begin their musical journey.

It’s been truly a great experience with Lewis Eady Music School for our son! He did enjoy your lessons at school.

MUSICAL JAM - Years 1 & 2 at selected partner schools only, please enquire directly

Our instrumental prep courses (based on the Orff Schulwerk approach) awaken and nurture a love of active music-making in children.

FEES (based on a 10-week term): $185 per term

LESSON DURATION: 25-30 minutes

Musical Jammers learn to 'feel the beat' and the fundamentals of music in these fun, supportive group programmes which incorporate singing and movement with an emphasis on live music making. The solid musical foundation our programmes offer ensure a natural, uncomplicated transition to an instrument in year three at school.

Orff-Schulwerk is an approach to music education which uses songs, movement, rhymes, clapping games, poetry and stories drawn from the imaginative and cultural world of the child.  Children improvise, compose and invent their own music using tuned and untuned percussion instruments.

GROUP & INDIVIDUAL LESSONS - Year 3+ at school

We offer small group or individual tuition in a wide range of instruments.  Regular practice is an essential part of learning so you will need access to an instrument while enrolled in lessons.

Group lessons
are a fun, social way for children to get started on a musical instrument together. Listening skills, co-operation and collaboration are naturally developed in a group setting and peer to peer sharing and learning is encouraged.

Individual lessons are suited to children who work best in a focussed one-on-one situation, who want to make fast progress and are committed to regular practice.

I just wanted to tell you how much my son has improved this year with you as his teacher. He is really inspired to learn and practice - probably because he is learning songs that he likes! It has made a huge difference to his enthusiasm for guitar and it is great to see him practicing just because he wants to.

We find Lewis Eady Music School very convenient since our daughter can learn throughout the school day, and can offer every child who enrols the chance to enjoy music, which will be with them for the rest of their lives.

St Joseph’s Orakei has benefitted in many ways through its association with Lewis Eady.

Having Lewis Eady in our school has provided students with easily accessible and affordable music tuition.

Through group learning children enjoy the social element and musical rewards that come from learning and playing together. Students learning the guitar through Lewis Eady have played in School/Parish Masses alongside the teacher.

Credits are given by Lewis Eady for each pupil enrolled, for the school to use – we have been able to purchase a range of instruments using these credits. Lewis Eady has provided music scholarships which has made it possible for pupils who might not otherwise have the opportunity, to learn an instrument.

It is through Lewis Eady nominating our school, that St Joseph’s received 25 free ukuleles.

It is also through Lewis Eady that our school received an invitation to a free concert put on by the APO for school students.

Lewis Eady is very supportive of schools in their efforts to provide music for their pupils. I fully endorse the Lewis Eady initiative, as I have seen individuals, and the entire school, benefit enormously from this amazing arrangement!
