Practice, Preparation and Nerves
SUMMER 2017 NEWSLETTER
I write this sitting at VTNZ waiting for one of my children to sit her driver’s licence test. There’s lots of nervous energy in this place (both from parents and potential drivers!) and excited anticipation as each young person presents their papers and waits their turn. I can’t help but compare this to a music concert – practice, preparation and nerves all leading up to this event. Of course, we are hoping for a successful result however, the learning that will take place from a performance that ‘could be better’ will just be as valuable. Your child’s concert will be a significant event for them (as will this driving test for my daughter). Enjoy and celebrate!
We wish you and your family safe and happy holidays. Thank you for choosing Lewis Eady to contribute to your musical journey this year.

Introducing…
Lesson Fee Increase
Please note that we will be increasing our term fees in Term One, 2018.
• Group lessons will increase to $175 per 10 week term
• Individual lessons will increase to $350 per 10 week term
The new fees will be reflected in your term 1 invoice as will the day/time of your lessons.
Invoices will be emailed to you in late January 2018.
End of year concerts and reports
This term, your child’s full progress report will be handed to them at their final lesson and end of year concerts also take place. (Several concerts took place in term 3 too). These concerts are a great opportunity for our students to both share their musical learning with their friends and family and to gain valuable performance experience. Enjoy your concert experience and remember that the less than perfect performances are just as valuable as the successful ones.
New Saturday Music School for Ponsonby
St Paul’s College and Lewis Eady Music School will join forces in February 2018 to bring a new Music School to Ponsonby.
Everything from guitar and keyboard to drum kit and brass will be offered and students of all ages and stages of musical development will be catered for.
With choices to learn music either a large group, a small group or in a one-on-one lesson, there will be options to suit every budget.
Each student will be offered the opportunity to take part in the Allcomers Modern Orchestra which will rehearse each Saturday at 2pm, and other group performance options will also be offered.
St Paul’s headmaster Kieran Fouhy says the college is delighted to be part of this musical initiative, being a school so committed to music that it requires every student in Years 7 to 9 to study it.
Lewis Eady teaches music to hundreds of children at several inner city schools – Pasadena Intermediate, Marist Primary, Ponsonby Primary, Bayfield, Westmere, Freemans Bay, Newton, Richmond Road and Pt Chevalier Primary Schools.
Students who have been learning music at Lewis Eady primary and intermediate partner schools in the inner city are thrilled that they can now continue their lessons in this convenient central location.
Lessons will commence on Saturday the 17th of February and run through until the 24th of November.
